As Advanced Life Support instructors, our resuscitation courses ensure you receive current evidence based information and skills that serve to increase your confidence when caring for a patient who may be deteriorating or not breathing normally, whether you practice in-hospital or within a community setting.
Immediate Life Support (ILS) (and eILS)
The Resuscitation Council (UK) Immediate Life Support (ILS) course was developed in response to a demand from healthcare professionals who may have to act as first responders and treat deteriorating patients, or those in cardiac arrest, until the arrival of a cardiac arrest team or ambulance crew.

Who is this course suitable for?
The ILS course is suitable for Doctors, Dental professionals, Nurses, Midwives, Operating Department Practitioners, Paramedics, Medical students, Nursing and ODP students (Final year) and other registered Healthcare Professionals. It may also be suitable for fire service technicians, police personnel and prison officers.
We also welcome applications from overseas medical graduates who are seeking GMC registration.

Resus Tree ILS courses are approved and certified by the Resuscitation Council (UK), ensuring a uniformity of content and standard. The ILS course is run over one day and the course programme consists of one lecture, skill stations and cardiac arrest simulations

Learning outcomes
The ILS course teaches the knowledge and skills to:
​

identify the causes and promote the prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest;

recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach;
-
undertake the skills of quality CPR and defibrillation (manual and /or AED) and simple airway manoeuvres;
-
utilise non-technical skills to facilitate initial leadership and effective team membership

Assessment and certification
​
Assessment is continuous and successful candidates receive a Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS provider certificate, which is valid for one year.
​
ILS certification is recognised across the UK, the EU and Australia.
​
CPD
This 1 x day course carries 5 CPD points.

eILS
e-ILS is a flexible way of learning skills in Immediate Life Support, and blends e-learning with face-to-face workshops. An e-ILS course provides a variety of skills, from managing a deteriorating patient, identifying causes and treating cardiac arrest, to improving abilities as both a team member and leader.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and AED for Healthcare professionals
​
Out of hospital, most sudden cardiac death victims have a history of heart disease and warning symptoms, most commonly chest pain, in the hour before cardiac arrest.
In Hospital, many patients who experience a cardiac arrest often show signs of deterioration prior to collapse.
Being able to recognise deteriorating patients and respond appropriately is vitally important in improving the overall chance of patient survival of a cardiac arrest.

Who is this course for?
​
This course is suitable for any individual who works within a Healthcare setting and requires a Resuscitation Officer led annual course in Basic Life Support.
​
The course is directly aligned to the mandated outcomes of the Core Skills and Training Framework (CSTF) of NHS England, Levels 1 and 2, and has been written (and is delivered) by our Lead Clinical Educator, a current ALS instructor.

Learning Outcomes
​
The 3 hour course is BLENDED in its approach.
​
Once you have booked your place a link to our e-Learning Academy will be sent to you via email. You will complete a 2 hour online theory module at your own pace before attending your scheduled 1 hour face-to-face practical session.
​
The content is delivered around the elements of the Chain of Survival (RCUK) and includes:

Early recognition of deterioration
-
CPR
-
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator
-
Choking
-
Current Adult guidelines (including the use of a paediatric modification)

Assessment and certification
​
The course is interactive and a variety of assessment methods are used including self assessment and peer assessment strategies.
Certificates are issued by Resus Tree Ltd and are valid for 12 months from date of the PRACTICAL training.
Resus Tree can deliver this course at your place of work, to your Practice or Healthcare Team.

All courses delivered within community Healthcare settings will receive a Resuscitation Equipment and Medication audit, for no additional fee.
​
This written report ensures your Practice is aligned to key Quality Standards of the Resuscitation Council and additional recommendations of the CQC and relevant Professional Bodies.
Paediatric Immediate Life Support (pILS) (and ePILS)
Paediatric Immediate Life Support was developed by Resuscitation Council UK for healthcare professionals who may have to manage and treat paediatric patients in an emergency.
PILS provides a variety of skills, from managing a deteriorating patient, identifying causes of deterioration and treating cardiac arrest in children, to developing team leadership abilities and finding out what it takes to be an effective team member in a cardiac arrest emergency.
A PILS qualification is recognised across the UK and Europe, allowing healthcare professionals to save young lives in many parts of the world.

Who is this course suitable for?
The PILS Course is appropriate for a range of Candidates including doctors, nurses, paramedics, ODPs, health visitors, school nurses, midwives, cardiac technicians, resuscitation officers, physiotherapists, dentistry professionals, ambulance technicians and medical and nursing students.
​
PILS is the ideal course for healthcare staff who need to develop their skills further than Basic Life Support, but do not need to train in Paediatric Advanced Life Support.

Learning outcomes
The PILS course teaches the knowledge and skills to:
​

understand the structured ABCDE approach that facilitates rapid recognition of seriously ill children;
-
provide appropriate initial treatment interventions to prevent cardiorespiratory arrest;
-
treat children in respiratory or cardiorespiratory arrest until the arrival of a resuscitation team or more experienced assistance;
-
become an effective team member who can respond appropriately in an emergency.

Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice
'A patient could collapse on any premises at any time, whether they have received treatment or not. It is therefore essential that ALL REGISTRANTS must be trained in dealing with medical emergences, including resuscitation, and possess up to date evidence of capability. '
Our Medical Emergencies in Dental Practice course is credible and ensures ALL key emergencies detailed within the British National Formulary (BNF), as well as practical skills in Basic Life Support are included.
